'Am I Blue?" by Bruce Coville is a short story about this boy named Vinent. Vincent gets maked fun of at school by people calling him gay. I realized that he don't like going places where's there a lot of men or little kids. He wants help from somebody, but he has no body that he know's that's going through the samething as he is going through. I'm writing this blog post to show that it's okay what you are and what you're not, people will eventually start giving you respect for who you are and what you're going through in life. Being a homosexual is alright it's a little phase in your life that some peope go through. Vincent had an unexpected guess, his fairy god father a one of kind fairy came to help him out with his issues.
Vincent dosen't know what he really is or what the people are like that surrond him. Melvin his fairy godfaher is there to show him and teach him that it's okay to reveal yourself don'be ashamed. Melvin took Vincent to a place where they're a lot of kids and strange men so Vincent can understand what's his point that he's trying to prove. Melvin was teaching Vincent that it is okay to be a homosexual because he is a homosexual and he is living his life very well. People may look way different from what they really are because they're ashamed of theirselves and afraid that they will get picked on and get treated with no respect. Vincent had 3 wishes that Melvin will grant for him but instead of a wish Melvin offered him to get the "sight". The sight was to see people colors, blue, dark blue and light blue meaning that they're homosexuals. From seeing so many people with the color blue Vincent finally thought to himself that's okay to be whatever you want with your life.
I have a cousin that is a lesbian but people don't give her much respect because of that. She feels like that she doesn't belong to anybody, that no one loves her for what she is and no one appreciates her.
Her friends, her family talks a lot of nonsense behind her back and she's wondering why no one is talking to her. The only person that really appreciate her is her really close friend she talks to her and ask if she needs any help and that she will always be there for her. Then she realized how many people around her and people that lives on her block are also either gay or a lesbian. Now that she don't feel alone anymore she has people that supports her and loves her and are not ashamed of her.
From what Vincent saw from the sight that Melvin gave him he's not afraid to reveal himself in public or like someone that is the same gender as you. It dosen't matter if you are a homosexual don't be afraid to show your true colors and be yourself. Vincent learned a very valuble lesson from Melvin and it tought him a lot.
